Through proprietary production processes and extensive in-house R&D, the product area Rock Tools, within SMRT, continually develops new rock drilling tools and cemented carbide grades that improve our customers operations and deliver superior performance at lower cost. We are now looking for a strong and creative Product Development Engineer with special interests in CAD methods for our product group Top Hammer to join our team in Sandviken.

 

Job Summary

As a Product Development Engineer you are part of the overall product development. You do this by leading, monitoring and participating in various development projects within Rock Tools R&D that seek the most cost-efficient solutions, always with strict adherence to our markets and the customers' needs. This means close collaboration with other relevant departments and production units within SMRT and well defined partnerships with universities and colleges. You lead CAD-development within the product group, where design (models and drawings, documentation, codes, etc.) is one part of the development process. When needed, you also support production units, the marketing department, visit customers, perform field tests, customer service and our subsidiary companies with technical information and data.

Some global travel is required for this position; around 20-30 days per year.

 

Your profile
We are looking for someone who holds an engineering degree within machining or material, or equivalent field. You have a background from the mining and engineering industry, with experience from the fields of R&D, manufacturing, design and drilling tools and/or equipment. You have good knowledge of CAD/PDM modeling and are well acquainted with MS Office. Experience of FEA and the systems NX and Teamcenter is advantageous, as is experience of project- or change management. As we operate in a global setting, you need to be fluent in both Swedish and English, verbally and in writing.
