Senior Manager - Digital Consumer Experience Communication

At Corporate Communications, you are part of a global communication team that's charged with developing the awareness and positivity of the Volvo brand and its products by building trusting relationships with journalists, online influencers and policy makers as well as internal communication with all Volvo employees globally. You and your team manage the long-term perception of the company in all media as well as any reactive threats to its reputation. Are you passionate about people, cars and communication? The way consumers digitally interact with their car and the services they will receive, will be one of the most exciting and challenging communication areas for Volvo Cars in coming years. To a large extent, Volvo Cars ability to thrive as a premium car maker will depend upon its ability to compete in this rapidly developing area of the global automotive world. This position is as a result crucial to the future success of the brand.

Main responsibilities

  • Responsible for creating short and long-term media communication plan within the area of Digital Consumer Experience
  • Act as an idea generator with the ability to find out of and pitch news stories to the global media and push ideas through to publication
  • Building trust based relationships with key journalists globally
  • Work closely and align with the team within Consumer Connectivity Services
  • Work closely with the Content team in order to secure the right assets (i.e press releases, film & photo) Responsible for briefing agencies if needed.
  • Work closely with the Media Relations team in order to secure cohesive communication
  • Align with department within Corporate Communications, Global Consumer Experience, PR-managers and other stakeholders to deliver coordinated communication messages
  • Become spokesperson within your area of expertise
  • Responsible for budget follow-up and cost control related to implementation of media communication plan

Required qualifications

  • BSc in journalism, media & communication studies or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in journalism, PR/Digital, communication or similar field, with an in-depth understanding of how journalists work and think
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English)
  • Driver’s license (category B)

Meritorious

  • Experience within the IT or automotive industry; knowledge of connectivity advantageous
  • Understand and have experiences working from a multi-media platform communication perspective

Personal qualities

  • Passionate and interested in finding new ways to communicate
  • Skilled in communication and collaboration
  • Social and outgoing personality, able to build good working relations with professional journalists
  • Ability to work quickly and independently
  • Have a “nose for news”
